Application Process

1. Download and submit Booking Form

Please fill in this form and send it to by 29th April to indicate interest. Due to limited slots, bookings will be on a first come first served basis. YSEC 2011 will cater to 80 student participants. We will inform the respective teacher-in-charge by 1st May about the outcome of the school’s booking and then proceed to collect information about the participating students’ particulars.

2. Download and submit Student Details Form

Upon receiving a confirmation of your school's booking, please fill in this form and send it to so that we can compile the list of students participating in YSEC 2011.

Please help to get your students' parental approval for their participation. The indemnity form is included in the student details form as well.


A registration fee of $15 will be charged for each student participant. Payment by cash will be collected on Day 1 (13th June) upon registration. Alternatively, schools can choose to make cheque payments. Please address all cheques to Hwa Chong Institution.

Eligibility and Criteria
The YSEC programme targets students from Singapore schools. Participants will be selected by their respective schools. To ensure that participants reap the full benefits from the experience, these participants should:
1. Be in Secondary 1 or 2 as of Jan 2011;
2. Be currently taking a Science-based subject;
3. Possess good oral proficiency in English;
4. Be academically-able; and
5. Possess enthusiasm and strong interest in Science and Science Research.

Each school shall nominate a maximum of 5 students for YSEC 2011.

Lunch and light refreshments are provided.

Terms and Conditions
· Students are required to turn up for all 3 days of the camp before they are awarded the certificate of participation.
· The YSEC Organising Committee will confirm the final list of participants with all schools by 28 May 2011.
· If a student is unable to turn up for YSEC 2011, schools may arrange for a substitute to take his or her place. Schools must inform the YSEC Organising Committee via email at the earliest .
· The teacher-in-charge is not required to be present at HCI during the Camp but MUST be contactable by telephone during the duration of the Camp.
